First-principles Study of Ce doped Lanthanum Silicate Nitride Phosphors: Neutral Excitation, Stokes Shift and Luminescent Center Identification

چکیده
We study from first principles two lanthanum silicate nitride compounds, LaSi3N5 and La3Si6N11, pristine as well as doped with Ce ion, in view of explaining their different emission color, and characterising the luminescent center. The electronic structures of the two undoped hosts are similar, and do not give a hint to quantitatively describe such difference. The 4f → 5d neutral excitation of the Ce ions is simulated through a constrained density-functional theory method coupled with a ∆SCF analysis of total energies, yielding absorption energies. Afterwards, atomic positions in the excited state are relaxed, yielding the emission energies and Stokes shifts. Based on these results, the luminescent centers in LaSi3N5:Ce and La3Si6N11:Ce are identified. The agreement with the experimental data for the computed quantities is quite reasonable and explains the different color of the emitted light. Also, the Stokes shifts are obtained within 20% difference relative to experimental data.

Rare-Earth Activated Nitride Phosphors: Synthesis, Luminescence and Applications
Nitridosilicates are structurally built up on three-dimensional SiN4 tetrahedral networks, forming a very interesting class of materials with high thermomechanical properties, hardness, and wide band gap. Traditionally, nitridosilicates are often used as structural materials such as abrasive particles, cutting tools, turbine blade, etc. Recently, the luminescence of rare earth doped nitridosili...

This paper demonstrates the application of a broadband luminescent downshifting (LDS) layer with multiple species of europium (Eu)-doped silicate phosphors using spin-on film technique to enhance the photovoltaic efficiency of crystalline silicon solar cells. The surface morphology of the deposited layer was examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The chemical composition of the Eu...
متن کاملNew Silicate Phosphors for a White LED
We focus on the development of new silicate phosphors for a white LED. In the europium doped silicate system, four LED phosphor candidates—Li2SrSiO4:Eu, Ba9Sc2Si6O24:Eu, Ca3Si2O7:Eu and Ba2MgSi2O7:Eu were found. Luminescent properties under near UV and visible excitation were investigated for the new Eu2+ doped LED silicate phosphors. These new phosphors have a relatively strong absorption band...

Novel chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process was successfully developed for the growth of Sr2Si5N8:Ce phosphors with elevated luminescent properties. Metallic strontium was used as a vapor source for producing Sr3N2 vapor to react with Si3N4 powder via a homogeneous gas-solid reaction. The phosphors prepared via the CVD process showed high crystallinity, homogeneous particle size ranging from ...

In the Nineteenth century the traditional sulphide based phosphor has improved greatly but they applied only in some commercial fields because the sulphide series phosphors are very poor stability. The long afterglow property and brightness is not good enough. That is the reason the researcher is trying to the research on the other phosphors. The researcher got the aluminate based phosphors at ...
